E-Flite Hurricane Release Date Delayed! Print E-mail
Wednesday, 13 July 2011 05:30

Well the news came from Horizon today and it was not good. The upcoming Hawker Hurricane which was slated to hit store shelves early next week has now been delayed for months, possibly until October is the latest I heard. The whole shipment of Hurricanes that arrived on the boat did no meet QA's expectations and so they were all sent back. :(

In some ways this good, rather than releasing the birds and having people angry for spending $300+ dollars on something that was sub par, but it also makes me wonder how things could have left the factory if they were sub par! This bird has already been delayed and I would assume Horizon Hobby has some QA people over seeing things at the factory on the other side of the ocean. Anyways, the latest word is that they are not coming out this summer, but of course one could always hope!

Speaking of hope, let's hope that the upcoming Parkzone SE5a and Spitfire pass QA and actually make it to store shelves before the end of Summer!

In the meantime we have plenty of more airplanes to review and things to keep us busy! There is always fun stuff ahead. :)

This is the calm before the storm

Things are about to get exciting in here! If all of the internet whisperings are true, this month and well into August are going to be busy times for rcairplanereviews. Horizon Hobby is releasing a bunch of new planes of all different shapes and sizes and I reckon it is going to be a blast to review them. I am excited to get my hands on the Hurricane and see how it compares to other foamies. The Parkzone SE5a Biplane is also a unique addition to the warbird line, should be fun putting it up in the air and seeing how she performs!

In the meantime I am still writing, reviewing, flying and crashing. Today was a rough day for me and the boys. We all managed to crash different planes with great expertise. Shaky Thumbs smacked his Eflite Ultimate into the ground and flattened it like a pancake. He said he doesn't think it is fixable, but I say with some patience and a lot of glue it can fly again. Crazy Thumbs killed his Fun Cub while pretending it was a 3D plane; fortunately by the end of the day the cub was fixed. And I rolled in a brand new HE163 that was actually flying really well until my radio/receiver had a complete lockout...something I have never experienced.

Pics to come! Sadly the video camera was not on when these planes were demolished, I know how everyone likes to see a good crash.

Well I didn't see this one coming. First the Hurricane, then the WWI Biplane and now Parkzone is releasing a Spitfire! It looks really nice, but of course only time will tell how well she flies. I look forward to reviewing this one when it hits the shelves! In the mean time, check out the flight video:

Hobby King B-17 & Exceed RC Mig-15 Video Print E-mail

It was a great weekend out at the flying field. There weren't too many crashes and although the wind was strong on Saturday, it died down for Sunday.

Finally maidened the Hobby King B-17 Bomber and it was an amazing feeling. The sound of the 4 motors humming through the air is fantastic. Currently working on the full review, but in the mean time check out the video!

Also built and maidened the Exceed-RC Mig-15. I sold my Hobby Lobby Mig and upgraded to this new bad boy with electric retracts and a bigger motor. Currently working on that review as well but check the video!
